Vineyard Inspection and optimised Navigation for Efficient Agriculture using Drones (VINEA-DRONE) | KyberKore P.C. The objective of the AGRARIAN – Open Call 1 is to extend AGRARIAN scope and technology by inviting startups, SMEs, universities and research organizations to submit proposals that harness cloud, edge, and mixed-model technologies to address the challenges in agriculture, focusing on AI and IoT innovations. The goal is to find solutions that can be tested and validated within the AGRARIAN framework to improve efficiency, sustainability, and environmental friendliness in farming. Proposals should include new methodologies for data collection and analysis and innovative edge/fog computing applications to process data on-site. The proposed technologies should be related to one of the three pilots (Livestock, Field Crops, and Viticulture).
The event took place on the 10th of May in Kalamata. The festival attracted over 500 visitors and was also broadcast online through the local media and YouTube. Among the attendees were numerous young students from across Greece, who showed great enthusiasm, eagerly asking questions and exploring the new technologies first-hand!
As the lead for Task T3.1 – AGRARIAN ADSS Development, SIMAVI is spearheading the design of a digital tool that brings intuitive, field-ready support to the heart of rural agriculture. The Agricultural Decision Support System (ADSS) is being built with a strong focus on simplicity and accessibility, targeting remote farmers, rural communities, and regulatory stakeholders. The tool is designed to foster smarter decision-making, improve engagement, and deliver tailored last-mile solutions for both crop and livestock farming, as well as broader rural development needs. A critical component being integrated into the platform is the concept of Growing Degree Days (GDD)—a key weather-based indicator used to estimate plant and pest development based on heat accumulation. GDD is essential for predicting crop maturity, optimizing planting schedules, and managing pests more effectively. On April 28th, 2025, a significant collaborative effort took place between SIMAVI and APPR Forum, focused on transferring agronomic expertise into the digital realm. This joint activity involved adapting agronomic algorithms to ensure seamless integration with the ADSS platform and mobile application, ensuring that real-world agricultural processes are reflected with precision and clarity. This partnership marks a pivotal step in merging agronomic knowledge with digital tools, empowering farmers to make better-informed decisions and enhancing resilience and productivity in rural agriculture.
The evaluation phase of the Open Calls is over! We will start the implementation phase of the winners shortly! Don’t forget that we will have a second round of Open Calls!
Between 10 and 11 April 2025, the APPR Forum attended the EuroGrain Exchange 2025, an international reference event for the agricultural sector. They were two intense days, full of valuable information, applied discussions, and exchanges of good practices. The event ended with a special panel, moderated by Cristina Cionga – Deputy Executive Director of the APPR Forum – who brought to the fore the prospects of the future of the CAP.
We ended the 5th Plenary on a positive note! Much work is underway, and we are working towards the project’s next steps as we slowly move into our first periodic review!
